Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

“Dear me! What happy little souls they were that morning; and when they were quiet again, how like a fairy tale did Tessa’s story sound to them … all their lives they remembered it as something too beautiful and bright to be quite true.”

-an excerpt from “Tessa’s Surprises” by Louisa May Alcott

In “Tessa’s Surprises,” Tessa goes to great lengths to fill her siblings’ stockings for Christmas. Her selfless efforts to care for them are rewarded with a big surprise at the end for the story. I won’t ruin it for you here.

But I wanted to share this story for its reminder that holiday magic is often the product of exhausting, invisible effort. If you find yourself content (but also, sleepy and spent!) today, you’re in good company.

Alcott reminds us that children might grow up to forget the details, but they will always recall the feeling of peace and safety and magic you created. Here’s hoping that you have a deep sense of pride for the people you’ve loved and cared for so well - even if they can’t yet fully appreciate it.

I’m taking some time to spend with my family and friends now, but check back next week for a new blog post. I continue to be to so grateful to connect with you in this space. Please feel free to reach out at any time.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and best wishes to everyone for a peaceful holiday season!
